Laura obtained her Post-Master’s of Science in Nursing from ETSU in August 2017. During her academic program, she spent some of her clinical hours providing care at the Simpson Clinic. This opportunity allowed her to understand the complexity of patients’ primary care and pain management needs in our community.
Prior to obtaining her nurse practitioner degree, Laura obtained her Master of Science in Nursing Education from King University in 2011. She served an assistant nursing professor at Northeast State Community College for 6 years. Some of the courses that she taught include: pharmacology, nursing fundamentals, and medical/surgical nursing.
She also served as an adjunct nursing professor for Mountain Empire Community College and Virginia Highlands Community College. Laura spent much of her nursing career working in the cardiac catheterization labs at Indian Path Medical Center and Johnson City Medical Center. She also worked on various medical/surgical and intensive care nursing units at Indian Path Medical Center.
Laura and her husband, Mark, were both born and raised in Scott County, Virginia. They moved to Kingsport in 2008. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and reading a good book. Biography: 12/10/2017
